Humility -- Humilidad
I am learning to forgive and look over offenses. It is really hard for me to forgive when people hurt me in deep ways. I'm not proud of that fact, and God is teaching me every day to see things from His point of view instead of my own. God forgives me multiple times every single day, every single week, every single year. And He's GOD. I'm not just sinning against fellow man, I'm sinning against a divine being!!
Luke 6:37
[ Judging Others ] “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Matthew 6:15
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Matthew 18:21-22
21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[a]
We are to continually forgive our brothers, because God continually forgives us, imperfect beings.
When someone hurts me, it can be like a knife in the heart. When I forgive someone, I feel sometimes like I'm pulling that knife out really fast. It stings. But just like a bandage, sometimes taking it all off at once is the best thing. Because if I leave that knife in, it will get infected and grow up bitterness inside myself. God is able to heal my open wound. But I have to let Him take that knife out if He is to heal me and work in me. It's hard, it hurts, and it feels like the other person gets away scratch-free, ready to hurt me again. But God has a plan for their heart, as well as mine. But I CANNOT change their heart. Only God can. And in reality, at the end of the day me and that other person are equal. Equal in our sinfulness, that is. God doesn't keep track of our sins, but He recognizes that each of us are sinful creatures. He wants to heal us, but He can't if we won't first look at the problem inside ourselves instead of trying to fix the problem of our brother.
Matthew 7:4-6
4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
It's humbling, but if you ask God for humility, then He will do just that. :)
God is such an amazing God!! Thank YOU FATHER, for ALWAYS, without FAIL, forgiving us all. "If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?" [Psalm 130:3] May I be an instrument in making Your Kingdom come Lord, please. Amen
